Margaret D. Ellis was born on January 16, 1951 in Glascow Saint Ann, Jamaica to Iris (mother) and Esdel (Dr. Sterling-father). Margaret was better know as Peggy, the nickname she was given by her parents. After Iris and Esdel Sterling were married, they were blessed with nine children. Margaret was number seven out of nine children. In 1974, Margaret was 23 years of age and one of the performers for Jamaica's Independence Celebration. It was at the parade that Vivian Ellis first admired her. Two weeks later, Margaret was coming from technical school and was walking in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. It was there that Vivian saw her again and approached Margaret. He proceeded to inform her that he admired her performance at the Jamaican Independence Celebration. He then gave her his business card and asked her to give him a call. Margaret was smittened and decided to call him. After that they were inseparable at her tender age of 23 years old. On December 16, 1978 Margaret married Vivian Ellis in Kingston Jamaica and they have been happily married for 42 years (together for 46 years). Two days after their wedding, they went on their honeymoon to Miami. After traveling to the United States, they decided that they would migrate to the U.S. for a better life. Vivian went first in 1980. During this time both Margaret and Vivian traveled back an forth from Jamaica to the U.S. It was during that time that daughter Carolyn Ellis-Johnson and son Vivian Ellis Jr. were conceived. Vivian ensured all documents were in place and in 1982 Margaret, her daughter and son all migrated to the United States. Margaret was a Christian who gave her life to God many years ago. She was a member of Oasis church in Pembroke Pines, Fl. Margaret was a caring, joval, loving and one of a kind. She is truly irreplaceable. She was the glue/foundation of the family. If family needed her she was always there. Margaret's (Peggy) life may have seemed too short for many, but those who were touched by this angle on earth understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time. She was loved by all and will be truly missed. Her life and legacy will continue in the lives of her children. Margaret leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband: Vivian Ellis Sr (Pembroke Pines, Fl), her daughter Carolyn Ellis- Johnson (Orlando, Fl), Vivian Ellis Jr. (Pembroke Pines, Fl), Son n’ law Rashendrick Johnson (Orlando, fl), step daughter Donna Ellis-Glemaud (New York), Sister Gloria Hunt (New York), sister Hyacinth (New York), brother Thomas (Jamaica), three special friends Mercia Blackwood & family, Gwenetta Clarke, Sally James and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Margaret and I met when we worked at Jamaica Mutual Life. We quickly became good friends and often went out to lunch together. She had a quick wit and laughed often and easily. She took great care in her appearance and was always very neat, She also to pride in the level of worked that she produced. I remember when Vivian worked across the street at British American and we would often look across to that building from our 8th floor office. I remember being happy for her when her children came along and that she spoke lovingly of them and her husband. Although we lost touch over the years, I am happy that in January this year we reconnected by telephone and again spoke a few week later. My condolences to Margaret's family. May her Soul Rest In Peace,
