Joanne Rodriguez's Obituary
JoAnne aka Poly came to the world on a chilly Monday morning on February 16, 1970. She was the third of four children born to Sara and Guillo Delgado. She was raised in Jersey City, NJ where she went to PS#9 then moved to Aguas Buenas, PR where she graduated from Escuela Intermedia Luis Munoz Marin. Afterwards the family moved to Newark, NJ where she graduated from Barringer Highschool. There is where Poly met all her dear friends: Mari, Lucy, Lilly, Lisy
and Raquel Lozada, Monchichi (Diane) including her now husband Elvis. She worshiped at Iglesia Roca de Salvacion where her dear uncle, Rev Samuel Cintron, pastored. Her years at La Roca formed her faith, they were unforgettable. Poly was friends with everybody, but her best friends were her cousins: Janet “Jeanie”, Elaine, Jackie, Teresita, Carlos, Omar, Sam Cintron, Charlie Flores, Ruby, Abraham, Edwin, David, Eliezer and Danny RIP.
Poly went on to graduate from Business school, and she worked with great people and bosses
like AJ. But her greatest boss was her daughters Emily and Amy. Poly got to see her daughters
become business owners.
She married the love and joy of her life J. Elvis Rodriguez and she got to enjoy “Welitahood”
with her grandson Brayden.
Poly was the life of the party everywhere she went. She is short in stature but a Giant of a
woman. She is an overcomer, a jokester, creative Sunday school teacher, Captain of the Royal
Rangers, fun loving and a woman of faith. As a friend said, “being on the receiving end of Poly’s
joy and laughter is an honor.”
Today JoAnne is survived by her beloved husband John Elvis Rodriguez, her treasures, Emily and
Amy Quesada, her legacy, Brayden Gordon, her dear in laws, Rev. Juan and Magaly “Galita”
Rodriguez Nancy and Xenia. Her (pela partners) siblings: Arlene Rivers(Sam), Guillermo “Memo”
(Carmen) Shirley Lopez (Jorge) her beloved nieces and nephews: Christina, Melody, Desiree,
Angelique, Johnathan, Ariana, George-Michael, and Jazmin. Her grandnieces and nephews:
Gabriella, Gavin, JJ and baby Leilani. Her aunts Aurora “Dorin” Esther Dones, Noemi Soto,
Percida Cintron, Nilda Cintron, Ana Delgado, Isabel Delgado and dear uncle Sammy Cintron. 42
first cousins and too many second cousins to count.
