I just want to say thank you! Thank you for being apart of my life, for the guidance and those meaningful stern words you would always use to keep us out of trouble and on the right path. I'm honored to have been able to be apart of your life story. I'm deeply saddened by this for it's a wound that doesn't seem to heal fast enough. However, I know you're in a better place and I send my condolences and prayers to the family. -Albert Jones

I want to thank the Rattray family for sharing your mother and your grandmother with my family. We all have characteristics that are supported by the loved ones that brought us up. I was the juicy grandkid so Mrs. Rattray would always say "it's easy to put on the weight, it's hard to get off" as she continued to feed me lunchables and those mini jelly cups that I swear she put in the freezer just for me! Mrs. Rattray was the definition of sitting pretty, Mrs. Rattray looked good EVERYDAY! I went to her house first thing in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon and at night. Not once have I ever seen her not well put together. Even with her roller sets in she looked great. When I think of a red lip I think of Mrs. Rattray. 🤎 I pray she was happy with the life she lived and that her family, me included, live on her legacy. Chelsea Dillon

Sweet memories of you Aunt Ethel, my heart is at peace knowing that I was able to travel from Alabama twice within the last six months to visit you. You shared with me that you were week and tired. I was extremely grateful and thankful to share with you the impact you made in my life as a child and adult. I thanked you for entrusting me to live in and take care of the family home for so many years. I appreciated all the times you'd call me when my son crossed your heart and you'd impart motherly wisdom on how to put him in "God's Almighty Hands" which was one of your favorite quotes. I was also able to share with you that I learned as a little girl how to deep clean a house....watching you scrub down Mama Cora's house from top to bottom with those yellow playtex gloves on ...dressed up in an outfit that appeared as though you were going shopping and let's not leave out the little white leather wedge heel slippers you wore and cleaned from the inside to the outside. I picked up so many personality traits from you especially my glam and style in fashion.. I also shared with you how curious I was about your bedroom at our house bc it stayed locked until you came to visit or unless Mama Cora used her keys to go in to get her fine dining lining. You laughed when I told you that once I moved in "I became the queen of the of castle and I made that my bedroom. There are so many memories that come to mind so Auntie I'll just cherish them in my heart ♥️ where you'll live forever. I love you dearly. and God bless your soul Your niece Sista....(aka) in your voice Sus-Taaa

As we travel through life we find some people we count on, I would have to say, Aunt Ethel was truly one of those people especially later in life you have run into issues. She was a woman of reason and confidence someone who loved dearly and gave advice for strength. The personal emotion that moved your inner being. I would guess that's why she began working with children at school. Auntie knew the need to be for filled in each soul she came in contact with, I myself will miss her as she and I would spend time together as she consoled me in my time of need. Forever grateful to her for being a part of this life of mine as she journey to a better and happier place in the lord's kingdom. Amen.

We sometimes wonder why God puts people or situations in our paths and sometimes we don't understand the reasons. But He does not make mistakes, ever. God allowed our paths to cross and through this journey a beautiful bond was built. It has been my honor to have served Ms. Ethel as her friend, her daughter (in-law) and her caregiver. I will never forget all the times we laughed together, the wisdom and advice she shared and the love and affection she showed me as a daughter. RIP Ms. Ethel. Thank you for everthing you've done for me and for letting me into your heart. I will love you always.

I have so many loving memories of this great woman. As a youth she helped me in so many ways. She always made me feel loved and cherished. She was like a second mother to me. I will truly miss her but knowing she is home with her siblings warms my heart.

My deepest condolences to the family. I have fond memories of Mrs. Ethel while at SARAHCARE ADULT DAY CENTER. She would talk about her hometown where she grew up.
