Obituary For Ermin Lorna Strachan

Ermin Lorna Strachan (lovingly known as “Lorna”, “Miss Maggie”, and “Aunt Pistachio”) was born on November 19, 1946 in Linstead, St Catherine, Jamaica; as the fifth child to her parents – Lorenzo and Ellen Strachan. She has eight siblings - Barry, Rafaleta, Alby, Conroy, Yvonne, Andrene, Orlando and Jennifer. Four siblings survived her. At an early age, Lorna became a member of Jericho Baptist Church, attended Jericho Elementary School, and eventually graduated from Dinthill Technical High School in 1964. Lorna’s first-born child, a son named Richard, was born in 1973 and her second child, her daughter Ginneh, was born in 1979. She is also the grandmother to two granddaughters – Arianna and Deja. In 1975, Lorna migrated to the United States with her son, to join her sisters Alby and Jennifer, in Brooklyn, New York. While in New York, she worked in the banking industry, and explored some of her many interests, which included cooking and baking, and fostering relationships that developed into long-time friendships. Lorna migrated to Florida with both children in 1990, where she jointly ran a family owned restaurant business, and exhibited her skills in the culinary arts. She also had a passion for working with the elderly, which she enjoyed. Later on, Lorna joined the Broward County Clerk of Courts, as a Clerk until she retired. She enjoyed working with the coworkers who she considered friends, and sharing with them, her love for baking and having a good time. Lorna was an avid member of the First Church of the Open Bible, where she continued to show her devotion to the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, traveling, listening to music, laughing, baking, and cooking. Lorna was a great mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and baker. Lorna is greatly missed, and will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in endless peace and joy.
