OBITUARY Craig Anthony Young, aka Craigie, Ernie, Uncle, Brother-in-law was brought into this world on June 29, 1974 to the proud parents Drexel and Yvonne Young in the beautiful island of Jamaica in the Parish of Kingston. He was the second of two children, his sibling being Andrina Cameron. Craig’s educational journey began at Vaz Preparatory School, then to St. Georges College, the infamous St. G.C on North Street, in Kingston where he graduated in 1990. He migrated to Florida in the early 1990s with his mom and dad where he lived until his passing. Craig had a remarkable 20-year career with Publix Supermarkets, ascending the career ladder from sales clerk, to customer service and then customer service Manager. He had an interest in computers and music, successfully completing a computer science course at Miami Dade College in 1992. Craig was known for his kindheartedness and love for his family. He was compassionate, a true human being with lots of love to give. He cared dearly for anyone who was fortunate enough to be a part of his life. A gentle giant with a large heart and appetite. Craig loved food, seriously, and could always be found in the kitchen cooking up a storm, usually telling you how you should cook and what dishes were right for you or not. He loved sports, watching or attending sporting events with his dad was always a highlight of his life. His life was drastically altered in 2006 when he suffered a near fatal brain aneurysm (stroke) and was in a coma for 3 months. The doctors said there was no hope, that he would have to be on a life support machine, also saying that “pulling the plug” was the only option. With James 5:16 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17 as our guide we steadfastly prayed and prayed to our Heavenly Father, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for his healing, with all of us taking turns at his bedside. Craig came out of the coma in December that year to write what we now know was the final chapter of his life. For 12 years he endured dialysis 3 times weekly for kidney failure. In December 2018 he was the beneficiary of a successful kidney transplant. Despite these health battles, Craig showed tremendous courage, faith, and trust in the Lord! Craig’s journey ended on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 7:05am. The final chapter having been written was now ready for life review, 47 years interview done. God took him home. His absence created a void that can never be filled. His memory will never diminish from our hearts and minds. Craig leaves behind his devoted mother, Yvonne Young, his beloved sister, Andrina; aunts – Hyacinth, Marcia, Gilda, and Marva; uncles – Howard, David, and Donovan; cousins: Wayne, Onika, Marlene Brooks, Kelli Ann, Simone, Joan, Karl, Val, Dotlyn, Kathy-ann and Krystle; nephew: Kevin; other relatives and friends. Perhaps my time seems all too brief, don’t spend your life on undue grief. My life with Christ is now complete, As I see His face and sit at His feet. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free. May his soul rest May his soul rest in peace. We love you, Craig.
