  Dear Family and Friends, let's take time to honor and remember a life that touched us all. Carrie Louise Thompson lived almost a hundred years on this earth. Ninety-nine of them, to be exact. And she filled every single one with love for her family. She passed on July 20, 2026, but the life she lived left something behind that time can't touch. Aunt Carrie was the sister of my grandmother, Gloria Irma Lucas. Growing up, I called her Aunt Carrie, and her house always felt like home. Aunt Shay was right there too, a few houses down the street, and between the two of them, they built something special for us kids. Warmth. Structure. Real love, the kind you feel in your bones. Sunday mornings meant church. Every single week, no exceptions. I remember sitting next to my cousin Sylvia, sharing candy and such, listening to Aunt Carrie's voice rise up during the hymns, watching her greet folks with the same steady kindness every time. Nobody taught me faith. I just absorbed it, sitting there in that pew. Holidays were something else entirely. Her table stayed full, the house stayed loud and full of positivity, and everybody had a plate no matter how many people showed up. Summer meant barbecues in the backyard, smoke rising off the grill, cousins running everywhere, and Aunt Carrie right in the middle of it, making sure nobody went home hungry or forgotten. Looking back now, what gets me most is how steady she was. Year after year, through everything the family went through, she stayed the same. Church on Sunday. Holidays around the table. Summer cookouts that never seemed to end. She showed up, every time, for family. Not many people give that kind of consistency. Fewer still make it look easy. Gloria Irma Lucas and Aunt Carrie shared a bond that ran their whole lives, and that bond shaped everything about our family. Aunt Carrie didn't just live through nearly a century of history. She poured herself into the people around her, one Sunday, one holiday, one summer at a time. She'll be missed. Deeply. But those Sundays, those tables full of food, those long summer evenings are staying with me and with everyone lucky enough to know her. Every time this family gathers again, some part of her will still be there. Rest easy, Aunt Carrie. Thank you for almost a hundred years of love. Kyle Dugger

  Dear Family, We send our deepest condolences as you mourn the earthly passing of your Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Our Dear Aunt Carrie. We pray for God's peace and comfort today and always. Aunt Carrie Louise Thompson was a beautiful soul whom God blessed with 99 years of life, grace, and His abundant blessings to share with her family and the many lives she touched. Aunt Carrie was special to me. I will never forget when she and Aunt Peggy came to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to visit my mother, her niece Barbara Atkinson, (who is also at rest). Just so, my 16th birthday took place during their visit, and although no party had been planned, they surprised me with a sweet sixteen celebration, which I have and always will cherish. They did it all, a cake with my name on it, gifts, and home-cooked soul food for the friends I quickly gathered. It was such a meaningful day. Neither one of them had seen me since their sister, Bernice, my grandmother passed away when I was three years old, they made me feel truly special. That's the legacy of Women I come from and I am proud to have their blood running through my veins. I only had the chance to see Aunt Carrie once more after that. After college, I visited my Aunt Edna, her niece, (who is also at rest), in the Bronx. Together, we took the bus from the Bronx to New Jersey, Aunt Carrie had prepared an amazing full course meal, it was such an amazing time, we spent the entire day with family, most of whom I met for the first time. The day was filled with eating, laughing, and sharing history about our family, it was a great day. These memories may be few, but have and always will be in my heart. Aunt Carrie was an amazing woman and she is now at rest, I will hold on to the moments we had together. Love and Prayers Semona Holmes and Family, Brunswick, GA

  May the peace of God Almighty keep the Thompson family in this time of grief. I pray that the memories of your dear mother and grandmother remain with you all forever. Sis. Carrie was a blessing to me, the Centennial AME Zion Church family, and all who knew her. She was a true steward and a willing worker for the kingdom of God. She loved her family and her church.
